Why are anchors and fastening important in furnace insulation?
Even the correct insulation material cannot operate safely for long without a suitable fastening system. Anchors support lining weight, restrict movement and help keep the lining in place during temperature cycles.
Design considerations
- Anchor material compatibility with temperature and atmosphere
- Appropriate spacing on walls, roofs and corners
- Connection details that allow thermal expansion
- Weld quality and supporting surface condition
- Anchor length suited to insulation thickness
Anchor density and layout are not the same for every furnace. Lining type, surface orientation, vibration, gas velocity and mechanical load must be considered.
